Why is the grid in the gridded µ-Dishes and µ-Slides located on the top and not on the bottom of the coverslip?

The grid 50/500 is imprinted on the top side of the coverslip, as placing it on the bottom/underside would severely impair the imaging quality. The reason for this is that the grid and the cells would no longer be in the same focal plane, which would blur the image of the grid.
