Does the fetal bovine serum (FBS) / fetal calf serum (FCS) concentration affect the rate of tube formation and degradation in tube formation experiments?

Generally yes. This depends on the cell type or cell line used. We observed typical tube formation of primary cells (HUVEC) and several endothelial cell lines on Matrigel^® in the µ-Slide 15 Well 3D when supplying the cell culture medium with any concentration up to 10% FCS. However, we suggest optimizing the FBS/FCS concentration for each cell line separately.
