Cultivation of Cells in 3D

Course Objectives

Level: Beginner

The majority of cells in living tissue grow in a three-dimensional (3D) microenvironment, where they communicate and interact with each other and their surroundings. In a 3D in vitro setup, the cells are either grown in suspension on a non-adhesive surface or embedded in or on a 3D matrix (e.g., Collagen I), which mimics the ECM and allows them to grow in all three directions.

In 2 hours, you will learn about the general benefits of performing in vitro experiments in 3D, plus get an in dept introduction to the solutions provided by ibidi.

After the course, you will be equipped with advanced knowledge and a better understanding of the necessary tools needed to perform your own 3D cell culture experiments.

No sterile working benches or cells are required to participate. Attend the course from the comfort of your office or home.

Target Group

This course is intended for scientists and technical associates who have experience with cell culture and sterile working techniques, and want to establish 3D cell culture using solutions provided by ibidi.

What Our Participants Say

"Thank you very much for allowing me to take part in your ibidi online course Cultivation of Cells in 3D. The topic of 3D cell culture was completely new to me. So far, I have been involved in 2D cell culture. After the 3D cell culture course, I gained valuable knowledge that I will be able to use for my doctoral thesis. Thank you very much."

"My rating for the ibidi online course Cultivation of Cells in 3D is 10/10! Peggy was accessible and communicative from the start. I am a PhD student and my current research focuses on the use of nanocarriers as a strategy to circumvent the frequently acquired chemoresistance in sarcomas. So, I work with 3D models, namely spheroids and organoids, on a daily basis. Due to this, the course was one of the most useful ones I have ever been to. I plan to do an experiment in which I will treat osteosarcoma spheroids with liposomes carrying fluorophores, with the idea to monitor liposome uptake using confocal microscopy. I was wondering which would be the best plate for this experiment, and after attending this course, I think that the ibidi µ-Slide Spheroid Perfusion is for sure the best option. Moreover, it was an interactive course as everybody was able to ask and discuss whatever was on his/her mind during the whole lesson. I would definitely recommend it!"

"I really enjoyed the ibidi online course Cultivation of Cells in 3D. It gave me clear and complex insights into the possibilities that ibidi offers in this field of research. I especially appreciated the video animations and the live video demonstration on how to use the ibidi slides and dishes properly. I’m also happy with the huge amount of information, tips, and protocols that can be found on the ibidi website. Looking forward to trying ibidi slides for 3D cell culture experiments."

"The ibidi online course Cultivation of Cells in 3D was hugely informative and useful for me. Growing cells in 3D is something that I am keen on getting into, but assumed it would be very fiddly and difficult. From this course, I have seen that it’s not as hard as I had anticipated, and the selection of dishes and slides that ibidi has should make it even easier!"

"The ibidi Online Course Cultivation of Cells in 3D is highly recommended for those who are starting to work with 3D cultures. They will get to know the possibilities that ibidi offers them in this field."

"This was my second time attending the ibidi Online Course Cultivation of Cells in 3D, and it was just as good, if not better than the first course. I am fairly new to 3D cell culture, but I do have experience. I have been using the ibidi Pump System for over two years as part of my doctoral research. It was really useful to see how I can further my 2D perfusion studies with suitable slides for 3D applications using this model. I would 100% recommend the course to anyone interested in 3D applications, even if you are a beginner—this is the course for you."

"We attended the ibidi Online Course Cultivation of Cells in 3D, because as a facility, we develop work protocols with eukaryotic cells and give technical advice to our users. It was a very good and clear course! We have been using different ibidi slides and dishes for a long time, but the slides related to organoids and spheroids are new to us. We will test the µ-Slide 15 Well 3D for staining spheroids as soon as possible."

"I attended the ibidi Online Course Cultivation of Cells in 3D, because as a lab technician I'm responsible for working with eukaryotic cells. It was a very good and clear course! We are already using the ibidi slides, and had no idea that there are so many options. We will test more slides in the future, such as the µ-Slide 15 Well 3D for staining our spheroids."
