The Scream of the Heart. Expressionism and microscopy combined, inspired by Edvard Munch’s "The Scream": This composition of immunofluorescently labeled cardiomyocytes reflects the beauty and complexity of cardiomyopathy research. The image shows physiologically significant sarcomeric proteins in human and rat heart tissue as well as human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.
