Confocal image of a fertilized mouse embryo in the zygote stage (wildtype strain C57BL6). The male and the female pronuclei have already been formed (the eyes) and the 2nd polar has been released (the ribbon). Staining against the Kashdomain protein Kash5 (Alexa 488), Dynein light chain (Alexa 568), Hoechst and phalloidin (647, magenta). The nuclear membrane of the pronuclei is positive for Kash5.
