Confocal microscopy of an adult mouse retina section cultured on the ibidi µ-Dish 35 mm, high. Retinal melanopsin ganglion cells express YFP (yellow). These cells regulate your sleep/wake cycle by being activated by blue light. Starburst cells, which are presynaptic partners of the yellow melanopsin cells, are stained against CHAT (purple). A single amacrine cell expressing mCherry (red) is displayed, which modulates the firing of all surrounding cells. The nuclei are stained with DAPI (white).
