A stem cell population in a primary rabbit liver monolayer culture. The liver cells were isolated from a 7-week-old rabbit intra-hepatic bile duct. These proliferating cells express the stem cell marker CD44 (green) and the cholangiocyte marker CK-19 (red). Nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue). The image was acquired using an inverted Nikon Ti-U microscope with a 20x objective.
