Brand Anniversary of the BioTech Company ibidi GmbH

Munich, Germany, July 8, 2024—Twenty-five years ago, four young scientists registered the brand ibidi. Building on this foundation, they established the biotechnology company ibidi GmbH nearly two years later, in February 2001. Today, it is considered the global market leader for innovative cell biochips in live cell analytics and diagnostics.
What began as a startup is now a sought-after technology partner in science and industry for cell research. ibidi's innovations enable novel cell examination and manipulation while significantly accelerating and reducing the cost of cell microscopy by a factor of 10-50.
Medicine, biology, and pharmacy use these innovations to understand the mechanisms of cell functions down to the tiniest details, such as proteins. This understanding aids for example in the development of precise medications and methods for treating deadly widespread diseases of the cardiovascular system and various cancers.Cosmetic medicine aims to slow down skin changes and aging using these innovations.
ibidi GmbH remains committed to Germany as its location: the entire value chain (research & development, production, sales) continues to be based in the greater Munich area, with most suppliers coming from the region.Since 2015, it has been strongly active in the American market with its own sales subsidiary, ibidi USA, Inc.

The company name ibidi is a shortened form of "integrated bio diagnostics," referring to the integration of several bio-diagnostic steps on one carrier. The letters mirror around the central "i" as an axis, alluding to the microscopy quality of ibidi products. The lettering is readable from both the top side for the user and the underside when viewed through a microscope, mirrored around the axis.

Markenjubiläum der BioTech-Firma ibidi GmbH
Gräfelfing, 8. Juli 2024. – Vor 25 Jahren meldeten vier junge Naturwissenschaftler die Marke ibidi an. Auf dieser Grundlage gründeten sie knapp zwei Jahre danach im Februar 2001 die BioTechnologie-Firma ibidi GmbH. Sie gilt heute als Weltmarkführer für innovative ZellbioChips in der Lebendzellanalytik und -diagnostik.
Was als StartUp begann, ist heute in der Wissenschaft und Industrie ein gefragter Technologiepartner zur Erforschung von Zellen. Die Innovationen von ibidi ermöglichen neuartige Zelluntersuchung und -manipulation, zugleich beschleunigen und verbilligen sie die Zellmikroskopie erheblich, bis zu einem Faktor 10-50.
Medizin, Biologie und Pharmazie nutzen dies, um die Wirkmechanismen der Zelle bis in die winzigsten Details wie Proteine zu verstehen. Das dient u.a. der Entwicklung treffender Medikamente und Methoden zur Behandlung der tödlichen Volkskrankheiten des Herz-Kreislauf-Apparats und der verschiedenen Krebsformen. Die kosmetische Medizin will damit Hautveränderung und -alterung drosseln.
Die ibidi GmbH hält überzeugt am Standort Deutschland fest: Die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette (Forschung & Entwicklung, Produktion, Vertrieb) findet weiterhin im Großraum München statt, die meisten Zulieferer sind aus der Region. Seit 2015 agiert das Unternehmen mit eigener Vertriebs-niederlassung ibidi USA, Inc. stark im amerikanischen Markt.

Der Firmenname ibidi ist die Kurzform von „integrated bio diagnostics“, also der Integration mehrerer bio-diagnostischer Schritte auf einem Träger. Die Buchstaben spiegeln sich um das mittlere „i“ als Achse und spielen damit auf die Mikroskopiequalität der ibidi-Produkte an. Der Schriftzug ist auf den transparenten Trägern sowohl von der Oberseite für den Anwendenden als auch achsengespiegelt von der Unterseite im Mikroskop liegend gleich zu lesen.
