Live Cell Imaging: Investigate Cell Biology in Real Time

Course Objectives

Level: Beginner

Live cell imaging (LCI) is the time-lapse microscopy of dynamic processes in living cells. It enables observation of cell-cell interactions, the behaviour of individual cells, and the dynamics of cell organelles or cellular molecules. Many topics in cell biology can be addressed using LCI and it offers many novel possibilities for achieving a better understanding of the biological dynamics within the cell culture.

During the whole experiment, the cell culture needs to be kept alive and healthy. Therefore, physiological conditions must be established and maintained during imaging on the microscope stage. For both the researcher and the equipment, this presents several challenges and requires exact experimental planning.

In 2 hours, you will learn about the advantages of performing LCI and get an in-dept introduction to both sample preparation and the ibidi Stage Top Incubator.

After the course, you will be equipped with advanced knowledge and a better understanding of the necessary tools and working steps needed to perform successful LCI.

No sterile working benches or cells are required to participate. Attend the course from the comfort of your office or home.

This course is intended for scientists and technical associates who have experience with cell culture and sterile working techniques, and who want to perform LCI by the microscope.

What Our Participants Say

"I thought the course was both an excellent introduction to live cell imaging and a nice refresher for those who have experience in the field. I gained a deeper understanding of the conditions and factors that must be considered prior to starting an experiment, during an experiment, and what ibidi offers in regard to labware and tools. I would recommend the course to others and would gladly take part in seminars about other imaging- or LCI-related topics."

"I really enjoyed the course. It was quite informative, and the fundamentals and problems faced in live cell imaging were explained very well. The Q&A session after every topic was also very valuable. I really hope there will be many more such courses in the future."
