Application Examples

Observation area is recorded
with a 4 x objective.
Chemotaxis of HT-1080 cells,
which are migrating towards FCS, using low resolution microscopy
for a maximum of migration data
High resolution microscopy during chemotaxis and cell polarization, using the HT-1080 LifeAct cell line

Necessary Equipment

Basic requirements:

  • Inverted microscope with a 5x objective and 10x phase contrast
  • Basic camera for time lapse movies
  • Heated microscopy system (required for experimentation on most mammalian cell types)

Recommended extensions:

Data Analysis

1. Chemotaxis and Migration Tool

To facilitate analysis of results from chemotaxis experiments (time stacks) ibidi has developed this software analysis tool. The tool provides various types of graphs and statistical tests for advanced analysis of experimental data.

2. Automated Quantitative Chemotaxis Image Analysis - WimTaxis

Manual acquisition and evaluation of 2D cell migration is time consuming and lacks in objectivity. Wimasis, the certified partner of ibidi for quantitative image analysis, developed an analysis solution to quantitatively evaluate 2D chemotaxis and migration. The Image Analysis solution WimTaxis generates fast results, without the need for extra hardware or software.
